    When I log in the system asks if I want to read my messages....so I dsaid yes and tried the DEL key in the view mode,,,message not deleted

    If "DEL" is not the correct command key, try viewing the menu for the message reader you're using.

    SyncTERM is a terminal program. That wasn't the question. Which terminal program you use should make little/no difference in how you delete messages.

    Perhaps SyncTERM has Del and BS swapped. Try hitting backspace. Also sometimes Ctrl-Del.

    I'm in NCSA Telnet on a System6 Mac atm and I have to hit command-Del to backspace.

    Maybe your terminal is sending ASCII 127 (DEL) instead of Ctrl-H when you hit the backspace key. What terminal are you using?
