    It seems most apps take up 500mb/1gb of space now. Its perverse. I do feel like I should get a 8TB HDD
    to use the non SSD type apps. So if its music/digital books etc.

    you can possibly salvage some by turning off "fast startup" .. it keeps a giant file about equivalent to your total ram on the root of the windows drive.
