• Jamoree on the Air - anyone ever participated?

From Sam Alexander@VERT/BAUDOT to All on Thu Apr 28 20:55:05 2022
I'm a scout Cubmaster and a licensed ham, but with just my tech ticket and not being on the air in YEARS I'm really rusty at it.I would like to find some way to get our scouts on the air this October with Jamboree on the Air: https://www.scouting.org/international/jota-joti/jota/

I'll check with our local ARC, but I'm curious if anyone here has ever participated in it. And if so thought?
    Thanks.

My local ARC does a thing with it, they set up a couple radios and a few club members hang around on local repeaters in order to talk to the kids and tell them a bit about ham radio.

I think your best bet is to contact your local ARC, I'm sure you'll find a few people willing to sit at home and talk to kids on the radio on a Saturday :)

I've found that the only need for coordinating is if you're doing line-of-site frequencies. HF is full of tons of people for kids to talk to that day.

Yeah. I never bothered to listen into HF on Scout weekends. last year I was up at my cottage, and the year before I had my license for about a month at that point. It was fun to listen in to though on the local repeater.
